The Graduate Course in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy at Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias from the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, organizes from the 26th and 27th of May 2023, its V International Congress of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy and the VI Congress of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy of ESALD, whose theme is Imagiology and Therapy of the Respiratory System. 

This Congress to be held in the city of Castelo Branco has as main objectives to promote the discussion on diagnostic imaging and therapy, from a benchmarking perspective, looking forward to future challenges induced by growing technological innovation.  

Finally, it also aims to promote the range of action of Radiology, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine with regard to Research at ESALD. 

 

Therefore, this conference is intended for:

  • Health professionals in the areas of Radiology, Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine 

  • Other professionals in areas related to Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy 

  • General public

Ana Cravo Sa

Graduated in radiotherapy, master in education, master in radiotherapy with specialization in clinical dosimetry and doctor in biomedical engineering and biophysics. 
Since 2006, he has been teaching in the Degree Course in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy at the Lisbon Higher School of Health Technology, Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. Between 2018 and 2021, he collaborated with the Escola Superior de Saúde Drº Lopes Dias, Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco, in the Degree Course in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy. Between 2019 and 2021, he also collaborated with the Escola Superior de Saúde da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa. 
Since 2015, she has been a researcher in the radiological protection and safety group at the Center for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies at Instituto Superior Técnico. Develops research activities in the area of medical physics, through dose measurements in a clinical environment, Monte Carlo simulations and creation of computational phantoms.

Filipa Ribeiro

Medical Physics Specialist in the area of Radiotherapy with over 16 years
of professional experience, having accumulated functions in the public and private sector.
Degree in Physics Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon in
University of Lisbon in 2005, Specialist in Medical Physics in 2016, Professional Qualification in
Professional Qualification in Radiological Protection level 1 since 2019.
Implementation of IMRT, RapidArc, Radiosurgery, and Radiotherapy techniques.
Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy at IPOL, acceptance and commissioning of Linear Accelerators and
participation, as a jury member, in Public Tenders for Procurement of
Hospital Equipment.
Carrying out training and participation in audits in the area of Quality Assurance.
Quality Assurance.
Supervisor of Master's Dissertations and publication of work carried out in the
in the area of Radiotherapy.

Ana Margarida Abrantes

She is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. Graduated in Nuclear Medicine in 2005, she completed her master's degree in Cell Biology in 2008, her PhD in Health Sciences in 2013 and her aggregation in Health Sciences in 2019. Since then, Margarida Abrantes has 15 years of experience in research in biophysics, in the development of animal models for human disease, molecular imaging and effects of ionizing radiation using in vitro and in vivo studies as well as clinical studies. These years of experience resulted in the publication of 132 full-text articles published in international and national journals, 5 book chapters, 2 books, totaling 2181 citations and an h-index of 25. supervisor of 6 doctoral theses and 17 master's theses. During the last five years he participated in 4 projects with international funding and 2 projects with national funding. Throughout her career, Ana Margarida Abrantes was also awarded 29 awards, the last of the Medals of Honor L'Oréal Portugal for Women in Science 2020.

Domingos Vieira

He did his academic training at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and took his master's degree in Medical Informatics at the same university
Guest Assistant Professor at the School of Health Dr.Lopes Dias and at the Polytechnic of Porto
Experienced assistant professor with a proven track record of working in the higher education sector Skills in medical devices, entrepreneurship, molecular biology, health information technology (HIT) and English. Solidly educated professional with a course in Positron Emission Tomography (PET): Technology and Application course focused on Nuclear Medicine.

Ana Geão

Radiology technician, with more than 19 years of professional experience, having accumulated functions in the
public and private sector, in areas such as computed tomography, conventional and digital radiology,
operating room, bone densitometry, angiography and interventional radiology.
Degree in Radiology from ESTeSCoimbra in 2004, and completion of the Training Course in Protection
and Radiological Safety – Level 2, in the field of medical activities, at ESTeSCoimbra in 2022, with
acquired the respective certificate of Professional Qualification in Radiological Protection, issued by the APA,
being named RPR of the CHMT in September 2022.

 

He completed his   degree in Nuclear Medicine from the Escola Superior Tecnologias da Saúde de Lisboa in 2003 and a master's degree in Engineering Physics Technology from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon in 2008.  
She has been coordinator of the Nuclear Medicine service at Hospital CUF Descobertas since 2007. 
He has been a member of the ATARP board since 2008, assuming functions as Vice President since 2022.
He is Chair of the EFRS Nuclear Medicine Committee since 2020.

Filomena Oliveira

Senior Technical Director of the Santo António University Hospital Centre.
She graduated in Radiology and began her activity in this institution in 1981. Between 2002
and 2022 she held the post of Coordinating Technician, integrating the Management
Management Board of the Department of Imaging / Diagnostic and Intervention Imaging Centre
Intervention (CIDI) as Responsible Technician for the Radiology services,
Neuroradiology and Nuclear Medicine. She is President of the Technical Council of the Higher Technicians of Diagnosis and
Technicians of Diagnosis and Therapy since 2003, founding member of the Commission for Radiological
of Radiation Protection, Qualified Expert level 2 in Radiological Protection and
Responsible for Radiological Protection in the area of Radiodiagnosis.
She has maintained for years a strong connection to the academies in the training of new
professionals as a teacher, monitor and supervisor of internships.

Vitor Azevedo

He is an Intensivist physiotherapist at the UCIP of Hospital Egas Moniz, CHLO, physiotherapy in Respiratory and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation at Hospital Egas Moniz and in Private Practice, Invited Assistant Professor in undergraduate, masters and postgraduate courses of 7 national schools of Physiotherapy, lecturer in more than 50 national and international events on topics such as Intensive Care and Early Mobilization, Invasive and Non-Invasive Mechanical Ventilation, Respiratory and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, among others; and Researcher at the Center for Research in Sport, Physical Education, Exercise and Health (CIDEFES) at Universidade Lusófona.

Joana Cristina Ruivo

Physician specializing in radiology who has worked in various clinical institutions and hospitals with a vast professional curriculum
Areas of differentiation in musculoskeletal and head and neck radiology.
Between the years 2014 and 2021 was visiting assistant professor at the University of Beira Interior.
She has participated in numerous national and international medical congresses and has published numerous posters in national and international medical congresses.
She also has several articles published in international journals

Astride Cardoso

Radiology technician, graduated from the School of Health Dr. Lopes Dias, IPCB, in 2014.
Works in England since 2015, in Buckinghamshire Trust, mostly at Wycombe
Hospital, but with rotational work throughout Stoke Mandeville and Amersham.
Wycombe Hospital is a specialist stroke and cardiology center, with specialist emergency
with emergency departments specializing in these specialties, although with other areas of expertise, while Stoke Mandeville
receives emergencies including polytrauma.
In 2018, he completed a course in "PICC line insertion," which consists of inserting venous catheters centrally, peripherally, for long-term chemotherapy or antibiotics, training that
allows him to use ultrasound for patients with difficult venous access.
He specialized in CT, with a postgraduate degree completed in 2021, currently working in the
as a CT Specialist Radiographer, also doing rotational work in shifts, between conventional radiology, operating room, interventional radiology, CT (including biopsies insertion of drains, cardiac CT), MRI (including breast and cardiac MRI)
and catheterization laboratory (cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty, renal denervationpericardiocentesis, pacemakers).

Fábio Serra

Currently a Radiotherapist Dosimetrist Coordinator of the
Dosimetry Service of the Radioncology Unit of the Algarve - JCS Faro and Guest
Professor at the University of Algarve; Degree in Radiotherapy at the Escola Superior de
Health Technology School of Lisbon since 2004; Master in Nuclear Technology and Instrumentation
by the University of Huelva since 2011. Participated in the training and preparation of professionals in the
radiation therapeutic area, following the installation of linear accelerators in Spain, Argentina
and Algeria between 2017 and 2019.

Paolo Brossa

Paolo Brossa obtained his diploma as a Radiotherapist in 1997 and has been working in Radiotherapy for 24 years. He is currently Coordinator of the team of Radiotherapists at the University of Turin and Coordinator at S.G. Antica Sede in Italy.
Paolo is involved in the workflow of the Radixact® platform and administration of Radixact® treatment with Synchrony®, in the first European Radiotherapy center to administer this technique.  Previously, he presented at the Accuray® ESTRO Exchange Academy 2021, "Workflow of using Radixact with Synchrony from a Radiotherapist's perspective", and at Accuray's Italian TomoTherapy® user meeting (Bologna, 2022). He is also currently observer in the ESTRO RTT committee since May 2022.

Since 2016 dedicated to Molecular Imaging area. Presently, as Product Sales Specialist in GE HealthCare,  I’m responsible to establish and foster the Molecular Imaging market in Portugal.

Fátima Monsanto

Coordinating Professor in the area of radiotherapy who has taught on the radiotherapy degree course and currently teaches on the IMRT degree course. She has 26 years of teaching experience. She was secretary of the General Council of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon and other positions at the School of Health Technology of Lisbon. She has several publications in the area of Radiotherapy.

Degree in Cardiopneumology, Master in Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation and PhD in Biomedicine. 
Teacher of the Degree Course in Clinical Physiology at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco - Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias. 
Sub-coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Research Unit - Functional Aging Communities - Age.comm.  A multidisciplinary team whose mission is to understand the phenomenon of ageing, with the analysis of the way in which the communities of the older territories in the Portuguese interior deal with this process, contributing to the development of functional communities, through the production and dissemination of knowledge that supports the definition of strategies that enable the well-being and autonomy of older people, their integration and participation in local life and in the development of territories. 
Its main areas of interest are associated to the phenomenon of ageing in the inland territories of Portugal, with special emphasis on the study of innovative solutions to bridge the asymmetries in this population. In the Cardiopneumology universe the focus is particularly on the area of respiratory and sleep physiopathology, rehabilitation and cardiorespiratory ergometry.
